Our Year Four students spent a couple of adventure filled days out at the MERC camp at Long Bay earlier in the week. While learning about marine life and conservation, they also had the opportunity to build camaraderie with their friends. From rock climbing and abseiling to making knots, raft building and boat safety they were adept at demonstrating their team building skills.

A busy day was capped off by making hamburgers and chips for dinner followed by a movie before bed (at which they all slept!). The sighting of orcas and dolphins on Tuesday really elevated the specialness of the camp.

They were able to relate their experiences at camp to Ficino’s school values when they were back in class. They wrote with pride about how they demonstrated resilience and courage and encouragement of others despite feeling scared at some of the tasks like boogie boarding and Stack ’em.
