We welcome new students to Ficino School. The most common entry point for new students is at Year 1, but we also take older students where a vacancy exists. The School aims to have intakes into Year 1 at the beginning of each term. Intakes for New Entrants (Year 0) are in Term 3 and Term 4 each year.
We encourage you to come in to see the School for yourself at one of our Tours or Open Days.
You will need to fill in an Application Form and return it to us with your application fee.
New entrants/Year 1 – once we have received your application, you will be invited to meet with the Principal while your child has opportunity to meet with the Class 1 teacher in the classroom. The teacher will carry out some brief assessments for those younger children which are mostly oral in nature, and need no preparation.
Older students – from Year 2 upwards children would normally stay for a longer period depending on their age; usually a half day or whole day. This serves two purposes. The child gets an opportunity to experience the school first hand; they are always buddied up with another student who looks after them for a day. At the same time the teacher can carry out some simple assessments to ascertain the student’s ability level.
We will let you know as soon as possible, in writing, whether your application has been successful. At that point, a refundable acceptance bond is payable if you wish to secure a place at Ficino School (see Fees for further information).
