The Aulds are one of Ficino’s founding families and Tim and Rosemary continue to be significant supporters of the school. Each year in Term 1, our Year 3 students take a trip to the Auld family’s lifestyle farm near Muriwai to experience rural New Zealand, meet the various animals and even learn about spinning wool.
The class is currently studying ‘living things’ as part of the Cambridge Science curriculum, so this was a great opportunity to examine the difference between living and non living things in nature. The day finished with a trip to the sand dunes and a dip in the Ōkirito Stream near Muriwai Beach, which was a great way to cool down.
