Attending the conference with staff from our sister schools in Lucca was an uplifting experience and really highlighted the importance of enthusiasm and joy in teaching. How we conduct ourselves as teachers has an influence on our students so it’s important that they see us demonstrating values for them to mirror.

“Beauty” was a theme of the conference with a different quote provided to us each morning. Reflecting on where we see beauty, what it means and having the opportunity to appreciate it will allow us to acknowledge the beauty in everyone and to help us to allow that to shine in our students.

We appreciated the opportunity to take part in “Quiet time” and experience the calmness and importance of being present. We found the compulsory singing lessons were very unifying – joining people with differing singing abilities lifted everyone to a higher level!

The opportunity to share teaching practices and take part in different study groups – Sanskrit, Art and Philosophy – provided inspiration to refresh and energise the lessons we teach. Taking part in these lessons gave us a different perspective as ‘student’ rather than ‘teacher’ which is important in understanding what our students might be experiencing in class.

We are enjoying sharing these new perspectives with our teaching team and class.
