In school last week I spoke with the children about the value of peace. I invited them to be like a calm sea or a lake so still that the clouds would reflect in it. They recognised that school can get busy at this time of year and that they could contribute by making more waves or offering a tranquil pool of peace around them.
For families, as it gets closer to Christmas, you can also be bombarded with the ‘to do list’, the advertising messages, the holiday organisation, but similarly it’s worth taking a step back and reconnecting with the things that make this time of year special for you and your family.
At Ficino School we are approaching the end of the school year by enjoying our traditional Nativity Play, practicing for the Carol Service and anticipating upcoming school festivities like the Christmas Bazaar.
It’s a good time for us to pause and reflect with gratitude on the amazing school community we have. This community is vast: from the parents and families that nurture and guide our children, to the staff that teach and inspire them, the team that feeds them with care, and the support staff that ensures everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. Together, we create an environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. It is encapsulated best by the African proverb that “it takes a village to raise a child.” Please join us as we consider the value of our community with thanks and a sense of connection. We look forward to seeing you at Prize Giving next week.
