It was fantastic to see everyone at our Parent Evening last night. We like to develop a strong relationship between home and school because it is beneficial to the children to know that we share responsibility for their wellbeing and academic growth. We are also grateful to our Class Representatives and Friends of Ficino (FoF) for your support. It takes a team effort to create a school environment in which every child can thrive.
This week my focus with the children in assembly was to revisit our first school value, Speak the Truth. I read the story Words are not for Hurting to the Junior Classes. It teaches the children that they can think before speaking, choose what to say and how to say it, and find positive ways to respond when others use unkind words. The importance of saying “I’m sorry” was also reinforced as well as good manners.
With the Seniors I recapped the story of The Boy Who Cried Wolf and had an interactive discussion based on the THINK model:
Before you speak THINK are your words…
True
Helpful
Inspiring
Necessary
Kind
We also touched on the importance of upholding these principles when on digital platforms.
Have a lovely weekend.
