There was great excitement around the school on Thursday morning as children awaited the arrival of some special visitors. Grandparents Morning provided the whole school with the opportunity to shine, and showcase what is so special about a Ficino education.
We have long said that music is a powerful expression of the heart of Ficino, and our Junior and Senior Choirs demonstrated this beautifully. They will be participating at the Kids Sing competition in a few weeks and it is clear to see how they hold their own against larger (and older) school choirs. In addition to singing, other classes shared some impressive dances while Year 7 got a lot of laughs with their rendition of a scene from the Shakespeare Play they will be performing at the end of term.
Grandchildren then escorted their grandparents to their classrooms to share what they have been working on – art, writing, maths, History, Myth and Culture and science. As a small school, Ficino prides itself on its inclusivity with children from different Year groups happily mixing. It was interesting for the Roving Reporter to see grandparents exhibiting that same inclusivity as they interacted with their grandchildren’s friends!
A big thank you goes to Mrs Setters, parents of Years 1 and 8 for the delicious morning tea, and all our staff for making this morning an experience for all attendees.
