Ficino School offers a variety of extra-curricular activities and clubs throughout the year.
Hockey and netball teams train after school and play on the weekend in our winter terms while an early morning running club operates once a week during term time.
Individual music lessons are available in a range of instruments including piano, violin, cello, trumpet, flute and guitar. Students can also choose to join the school choir which has enjoyed success in regional competitions since it formed several years ago.
After school clubs in speech and drama and French are offered while the Chess club is a popular lunch time club that typically runs in Term 3.
Camps and Outings
Right from Year 1 students participate in an extensive programme of trips and camps as part of Ficino’s EOTC* programme. These offer a myriad of benefits as children gain tangible, real world experiences of their in-class lessons.
These include visits to the Zoo, the Honey Centre, Howick Historical Village, the Auckland Museum and the Auckland Art Gallery. Visits to Tiri Tiri Matangi, Rangitoto, Rotoroa Island and Cue Haven support science and sustainability lessons.
Once students are in Year 2 overnight camps start, the first of which is at school. As they get older, they venture further afield for tramping and other outdoor adventures in the Coromandel and the Bay of Islands.
