On Wednesday 23rd October, two teams from Ficino School’s Year 5 & 6 classes competed in the annual Mathex Competition to pit their skills against other central schools. Mathex is a challenging and fast-paced mathematics contest in which schools from across Auckland compete against each other in teams to answer questions as quickly as possible.

In the Year 5 competition, this year’s questions were challenging, with just 2 out of 27 teams achieving a score of 100. Our Year 5 team can be proud of their score of 90.

Last year’s Year 5 Ficino team came top in 2024, and this year they competed once again as Year 6 students. The team worked together extremely well, beating 26 other schools to bring home the trophy once again!
