In acknowledgment of Mother’s Day this Sunday we would like to dedicate this week’s message to all the amazing mothers in our Ficino community. Raising a child is not for the faint-hearted. Your children are very fortunate to have mothers who can provide an endless stream of love, patience and wisdom throughout their lives. Mothers are a child’s lighthouse in the dark of a bad dream: blanketing them with safety and kindness. They are the biggest cheerleaders for their children, inspiring them to follow their dreams.

Mothers are often celebrated for their purity, love, and nurturing qualities. They are regarded as precious in all religions and revered as symbols of creation: the embodiment of universal care and compassion. There is remarkable unity in the way many traditions honour the concept of the Universal Mother as the source of life and the foundation of existence.

The universal power of motherly love certainly extends far and wide. For those sadly orphaned there exists an army of women across the globe who adopt, who raise a niece or nephew as their own, or create a home where every visiting foster child feels nourished by their attention and care. 

You are the unsung heroes, building the foundations of the future generation. At Ficino we teach the importance of honouring your parents and this weekend we hope that you feel their gratitude. Happy Mother’s Day.
