Our Head Girl and Boy reminisce on being chosen for their roles, and the skills and learnings they are hoping to develop and utilise this year.

When I was waiting for the announcement of Head Girl and Head Boy, I had a swarm of emotions rushing throughout my mind. I was both scared and anxious. I couldn’t stop moving, my whole body was shaking with nerves. When I heard my name it made me feel incredibly fulfilled and delighted. Knowing that you are a head student and have been selected out of all the people in your class is such a privilege. This role will develop my maturity and sense of responsibility, which I will very much need moving forward to high school next year. I know that this role will also teach me many things, especially confidence in myself and what I believe in, and the ability to be a good leader. I must be strong, courageous and be willing to take risks. I am looking forward to rising to the challenges that being Head Girl will bring this year.

When I was announced as Head Boy, I was shocked. Now, after having some time in the roIe, I feel privileged and honoured that I was trusted by students and teachers alike to take on such an important position. To me, being selected to be a head student is an amazing opportunity to grow and gain confidence and to learn new skills that will help me improve in the later years of my life. Some skills that I hope I will be able to achieve in my role as Head Boy are the ability to not get as scared and nervous when speaking in public; being able to see a problem from both sides to make a fair and just decision; and to be able to help people with anything and everything they ask me to help them with. I know that I will enjoy having the privilege of being Head Boy for the rest of the year and maybe even the rest of my life.
