Message From The Principal

Message from the Acting Principal – Farewell Term 1

As our first term draws to a close the vibrant energy of the children continues to shine in the classrooms. The buzz of the Class Concerts and the Speech Competition has inspired the children to showcase the best of their ability to their peers. As tools of communication music and speech elevate and expand our everyday horizons, expressing the beauty of nature, the far-reaching human imagination and the depths of the compassionate soul. Thank you to our guest judges, Alvin Maharaj and Matt Baker. It must have been very difficult to select the winners amongst such talented speakers.

Yesterday we met at Eden Church to formally conclude the term. Visiting places of worship is an important part of the children’s education. Not only do they learn how to behave appropriately and respectfully, but they have an opportunity to connect with ancient stories and understand the traditions that sprang from them. For the Christian community, Easter is a season of bright-sadness. Following the example of Jesus’ time in the wilderness, the forty-day Lenten period prior to Easter is a time reflect on their own suffering, trials and temptations in order to repent and be resurrected into the grace and light of God. Easter Sunday and the sharing of eggs symbolises this new life and new beginnings.

Thank you to the staff and school community for supporting me as Acting Principal and to Mr. Crompton for trusting me to walk in his ‘Principal’ shoes whilst he donned his hiking boots. Thankfully, I enjoy a challenge!

I wish you all a peaceful and joyous holiday.

Mrs Spicer
