School Newsletter Week 10, Term 2, 2015

The school and parents were treated to a delightful performance of Cinderella by Class Three in this morning’s Assembly. It had four or five short scenes with different children playing the main characters in each. The Play, adapted and directed by Miss Doctor was full of good humour and clear speech. In the final scene, Cinderella was lifted off her feet with a twirl by the Prince. Earlier in the week Year 7 students visited the AUT Centre for Refugee Education in Mangere as part of their Geography programme. They took afternoon tea to share and also donated warm clothes. The trip was quite an eye opener with the opportunity for the students to see the reality of what it must be like to be a refugee in a foreign country. In the Geography lessons the students have been studying developing and developed countries and have gained an appreciation of the size of the refugee problem globally. Phenomenally, there are over 50 million refugees, asylum seekers and internally displaced people world wide.
