It was good to see so many of the parent body at our Final Assembly this morning. The quality of the winners of our annual Speech Competition was astounding; I am pleased the children had such a good audience to deliver them to. What was most striking was the students’ confidence on the stage. It all began with Class One delivering a choral rendition of a prayer from one of the Upanishads of ancient India. It was bright, clear and full of spirit. We were then entertained with psalms, English poetry, an extract from the Anglo Saxon poem Beowulf, Shakespeare’s Henry V and the grand finale of Queen Elizabeth’s rousing speech to the English troops at Tilbury before they faced the Spanish Armada.
I wish you all a splendid break and look forward to seeing you again in the new term.
Peter Crompton

View Road Security Gate
From next term, the security gates on the View Road driveway will be locked after the school day and reopened in the morning, therefore access out of school hours will be through the main gate on Esplanade Road.
Children’s Movie Night
Thank you to all those who were able to attend the Kids’ movie night. The evening raised $939, a pretty impressive total. We were able to keep expenses to an absolute minimum as we had loads of things left over from the Fair (juice, ice cream, sausages and loads of lollies) and kind donations of school families (cones, bread, sauce and nibbles in the back room). The children looked fabulous in their costumes and we hope to have photos for you next term. Remember if you have any good ideas for movies or events let your class coordinator know and we will see what we can do. Enjoy the July holidays!

Geographon – Tuesday 5th August
A notice has gone home with the students this week regarding the Geographon which will be held in Week 2 next term. The students enjoyed the challenge of learning to improve their geographical knowledge when we held this before the 2012 Renaissance Trip and we look forward to this event again. The sponsorship money can be returned in Week 1 next term. Thank you for your support.
