Ficino School Letter Week 9, Term 3, 2018

Message from the Deputy Principal

At Assembly this morning we presented the awards for the Hockey and Netball teams.  The praise from the managers for the children in the teams, their spirit, their support of each other and their growth was heartening to hear.   In all cases the managers would have liked to award every child for their effort and dedication, but as in all walks of life, not all can receive prizes.

Yesterday the children farewelled Mr David Gibb, a man in his mid-eighties, who has served in our kitchen on Thursday afternoons helping with the dishes.  He has been doing this for 21 years and in recent years has brought in his own stool on which to sit while he works at the sink.  He spoke of the joy of being at the sink in the kitchen listening to the buzz and happy sounds of the children.

I wish you all a safe and happy holiday.

Margaret Brickland
Deputy Principal
