Ficino School Letter, Week 7, Term 4, 2018

As the year begins to draw to a close with only two more weeks to run, it is hard to believe that Christmas is nearly upon us.  The end of year programme at Ficino is always very full with such a wide variety of differing activities, and this year is no exception.

We have our traditional Nativity Play being performed by Class Three for the first time this year, which takes place next Friday at 1pm followed by a concert of music and speech.  Two days prior to that we have our annual swimming gala for Years 3 to 8, and on the same day a select group of Year 7 and 8 students will compete in the finals of the EPro8 technology challenge.  On the Monday of next week our seniors will be completing their Waterwise programme at Orakei Basin, and of course this week our Year 5 & 6 students are away on the Kauaeranga Valley Camp which includes a challenging 11km hike in NZ native bush.  Over the weekend in between (Sunday 2 December) the Friends of Ficino are running the traditional Christmas Bazaar which has been enjoyed by visitors and the School community over the last three years.  I hope to see many of you there.  In the final week of term, we look forward to our Carol Service and Prize Giving.  Our Guest Speaker this year is past student Tristan Pang.

It is brilliant to be able to offer such a rich programme for our students and we are ever grateful for the support of our whole school community in these undertakings.
