Ficino School Letter, Week 5, Term 1, 2019

A word from the Principal

The stage is now set for our biennial Shakespeare Play, which this year is Twelfth Night.  We are most appreciative of the support being provided by parents, who have been giving up their weekends and evenings to help prepare the set.  With the expanded stage filling half the hall, fitting everyone in for our Good Works Assembly this morning was somewhat of a challenge.  The Chairman of our Board, Mr Doug Matthews, was welcomed to the Assembly and witnessed speech and drama, and Art and Chemistry, not to mention a short history of Ancient Rome! Tickets for the Shakespeare Play, which runs from Wednesday 3 April through to Saturday 6 April, will be on sale from the School Office soon.  The extract we saw in Assembly this morning had the younger students in stitches of laughter.

Earlier in the week, six of our Year 7 & 8 students competed in the Remuera Zones Cricket Tournament and won the final for their division by one run!

Yesterday Year 5 & 6 attended Life Saving training at Mairangi Bay.  The ability to keep yourself and others safe at the beach is paramount for a nation surrounded by sea.
