We are currently undergoing a review of our marketing messages and it is always a difficult task to encapsulate a Ficino education in a soundbite. There are so many interweaving facets. The conclusion of our marketing consultant, who has spent some time in the classrooms this week, is that you have to experience it to really get a feel for the unique education taking place here. He was astonished by the mature way the children got on with independent work with a minimum of fuss and a focus and enthusiasm that belied their years; and this was only Class 2!
At the senior end of the School, our Year 7 & 8 students are preparing to depart for Europe. They leave in just under four weeks time and will be having their first of two sleepovers tonight. The Renaissance Trip is an opportunity to open their hearts and minds to a unique period in the history of Western civilization. In Italy in the 14th to 16th centuries, a remarkable expression of the human spirit took place in Art and Culture. Our Patron Marsilio Ficino, although relatively unknown today, was in fact a leading light in Florence during this time. His scholarship, writing, and translation work directly influenced some of the now famous painters and sculptors.
