Ficino School Letter Week 2, Term 1, 2016

In our morning Assemblies, we usually recite two prayers; the Lord’s Prayer and a Sanskrit Prayer. The Sanskrit prayers always have a universal quality which would support any faith or belief system. This morning, we sounded the Perfect Prayer which in translation reads:

That is Perfect, This is Perfect,
Perfect comes from Perfect
Take Perfect from Perfect and the remainder is Perfect
May Peace and Peace and Peace be everywhere

The Bible expresses this in a slightly different way in Genesis when it says
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him”.

In the Assembly we explored this concept and it was generally agreed that we don’t usually view each other as the image of God, as Perfect come from Perfect. However in response to the question ‘What would a school, a community or the world be like if everyone remembered to view each other as an image of God, there was a quiet silence of possibility and one boy answered for everyone ‘Amazing’.

Ficino Running Club – Friday Mornings – Yr 5 – 8 children

Ficino Running Club has started again on Friday mornings, starting at 7am.  It is open for children in Year 5 – 8 and their parents.  Younger children are welcome to come along if they are able to run without stopping for 30 minutes and they are accompanied by a parent.  Breakfast is provided, but please bring a gold coin donation for this.  With this money we also support the CAP (Christians Against Poverty) organisation by purchasing sports shoes for children in Auckland who are from needy families.  If you have any questions about the running club, please contact Mrs Watkins
