Ficino Preschool’s programme operates between 8.30 to 3.30pm daily. Early-bird drop off is available from 7.40am for a fee.
The Ficino After School Care programme is available from 3.30pm. Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
A typical day
The children follow a daily programme that includes exploratory play, group learning, restful pauses, music, physical activity and structured tasks.
Inside and outside play areas offer children the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities that may include opportunities for physical, social or creative play. Numeracy and literacy awareness, knowledge and skills are naturally integrated throughout the day.
Children’s sense of self-worth as competent and capable learners is enhanced through activities that are directly related to their interests, needs and abilities.

Meals at Preschool
We strongly believe a healthy, balanced diet is central to good learning. All the children’s food will be provided by the Preschool, including morning and afternoon tea. Like Ficino School, the food served will be in-season and vegetarian, include one hot dish, and be prepared freshly each day in our kitchen. Children with food allergies or gluten intolerance will be catered for as required.
Mealtimes are about more than just food at Ficino Preschool. Teachers will sit down with the children and teach them how to serve and care for one another, as well as engage in good conversation. Lunch will also be an opportunity for the students to practise their table manners and learn to use cutlery appropriately.
Birthdays are celebrated at preschool and the children will be welcome to bring a healthy snack to share. A fruit platter, small fruit kebabs or cups, sushi, savoury scones or plain popcorn are preferred.
Preschool children wear a Ficino polo-shirt with the addition of a polar fleece in winter. A choice of track pants, leggings, skort (shorts with skirt wrap around), or shorts and a hat, complete the uniform.
