As we build up to the five performances of Twelfth Night next week, it is an opportune time for us as a school to reflect on the help we receive from our parent body and school community. This allows us to offer such an enriched programme of activities for our students.
Athletics Day two weeks ago was a day full of healthy competition, mindful supporting and enjoyment. The parent help on such a hot day facilitated a broad range of events. Recently there have been a number of class trips and inter-school sports competitions which have been facilitated by the presence of parent helpers. Our Year 5 & 6 cricket team recently won their two games at the Remuera Zone Competition and two weeks ago the Year 7 & 8 won their Inter-zone event.
The Friends of Ficino with a large group of helpers put on the Bollywood evening which raised around $5000. This will go towards the 2020 Renaissance Trip and projects in the School. These include shade options for the area behind the villa and development of some other areas which are still to be confirmed. Thank you for making all this possible.
Here is something from one of our Preschool children to remind us all of the importance of a growth mindset:
I told Ms Banks that I couldn’t swing across the monkey bars.
And then I tried, and then I tried, and I got better at it.
I went right across the monkey bars for the first time.
Then I tried again, and I listened to my body.
My body said, try again, so I did.
Then I tried again but my arms were too weak.
So then I waited, and then they were ready.
Then I tried again.
And I did it.
