Ficino School Letter, Week 6, Term 3, 2018

A word from the Deputy Principal

Thursday 6th September, the School Hall was filled with music playing all day – a treat for all there.  I noticed many faces of children in the audience totally entranced by the playing of their peers.

Our judges were Mrs Lauren White who teaches singing in the school and Mrs Olive Leddy who has a wealth of experience as a teacher and running music programmes in schools in Auckland.  Dr Sussex joined the judging panel for advanced piano entries.  The judges were extremely impressed that so many students at Ficino School are learning musical instruments – the best food for the brain, they said.  They were delighted with the quality of the entries, we had over 70 entries, and generosity and poise was most evident in the presentations.

All children received personal written comments from the judging panel and a housepoint was awarded to each entry together with extra housepoints for place-getters.

Thank you to all parents and families for your support in your child’s musical journey.

Margaret Brickland
Deputy Principal and Head of Music
