Ficino School Letter, Week 10 Term 1 2018

A word from the Principal

Last week the Education Review Office reported back on their initial findings having visited the School the week before. They spent an hour visiting four or five classes around the school and described their time here as a privilege. Two comments that were made in their report particularly stood out. The first related to connection and focus. They said that the children’s level of engagement was outstanding in every class they visited. They loved the interesting way the students were being questioned, coached and challenged to think for themselves. The second comment was that the behaviour of our students was exceptional and that the values of the School are very obvious and fully embedded in the culture.

This was very pleasing to hear but unfortunately none of it will be mentioned in their report. Their job is to assess our suitability to operate as a school and nothing more. The language used in the reports sadly tends to be rather bland. It was however delightful that they were able to verbally offer such positive feedback.
