Ficino School Letter Week 8, Term 2, 2016

The highlight of this week was the Class 2 Spirit Play which took place on Friday morning. This script is adapted from the Kena Upanishad, one of the great spiritual texts from the East. It is a play about the gods of Fire, Water and Wind who became boastful forgetting that the ultimate source of their power is from Spirit, who sits unassuming amongst them. The upanishad describes Spirit as being the universal Good in all. The play is a reminder to us all, how easy it is to forget to see the Good in others and let our egos take over the show. At the end the gods bow down to Spirit and acknowledge that their false pride is caused by forgetting the Good which is in all.

Class 2 gave a wonderful performance. Their stage presence was excellent and their voices clear. They brought the story to life in front of a packed hall with over 120 parents and children in attendance. Well done, all who were involved.

The stage for the play was adorned with new curtains, and blackout blinds have now been fitted on the windows. Our thanks go to all parents through the agency of the Friends of Ficino which raised funds to purchase these.
