Ficino School Letter Week 9, Term 1, 2016

Athletics Day at Mt Smart Stadium on Wednesday was again a great success, with many children rising to the challenges. David Boddy, past headmaster of St James School in London, used to define success as achieving more than you think you can do. Based on this definition there were many successes going on all through the day. What is always a delight to see is the same fullness of effort going in irrespective of whether the child is coming first or last, and the same loud cheers from the spectators for both. We have a number of strong athletes in our midst, and a few records were broken during the day. We will hear more about those at our Athletics Awards Assembly in two weeks’ time on Friday 15th April. Thank you to all parents and others who helped to make the day a success. It couldn’t happen without you.

This is a busy time of year with our first Ficino Fiesta taking place tomorrow. The children were very excited in assembly this morning and are all looking forward to coming. A huge amount of preparatory work has been put in by many parents to ensure the success of this event. There are many attractions for children and adults alike with stalls, rides, games, stage performances and delicious food from different cultures and traditions. We look forward to welcoming local MP, Paul Goldsmith, to the event.

A special thank you to all those who have given so much time to the Ficino Fiesta already. The generosity of spirit, unity of purpose cannot help but make this event a success.
