School Newsletter Week 1, Term 4, 2016

The first week back at school has been excellent. The children as always have enjoyed meeting their friends again and finding out about their learning opportunities for the term ahead. In assembly this morning, the students’ artwork was presented to the school. Each class has created a composite piece which they have all contributed towards. The results are outstanding. One common theme that seems to come through in many of them is ‘the sea’ which of course we are surrounded by in Auckland. Class 6 and 2 had animal themes and Class 4 based theirs on one of our assembly prayers which includes the line ‘Lead me from darkness to Light’. These pieces will be auctioned tomorrow evening at the Friends of Ficino Art Auction event at 268 West Tamaki Road. We hope to see you there.

The beautiful artwork produced by the children has also had an opportunity to be displayed recently in our local church, St Barnabas. This is one of the oldest churches in Auckland, built originally in 1848 and relocated to its current site thirty years later. As part of the Auckland Heritage Festival, the church has been open for visitors with artwork from local schools displayed. Ficino students’ work formed a significant part of these displays.

The school continues to attract interest from many areas of the community. The strong spiritual foundation on which the school stands underpins the values, the curriculum and the whole school community. Please continue to share the unique opportunities on offer at Ficino School with friends and family.

Rejoice in the Present.

Principal
