School Newsletter Week 6, Term 3, 2015

Grandparents Morning is always a special day at Ficino School. On Thursday, we welcomed about sixty grandparents into the school hall. The day started with a beautifully prepared morning tea (thank you all those parents who contributed to this) organised by the Friends of Ficino and served by parents and Class Five students. Following a welcome and an address by Mr Bruce Watson, Chairman of the Ficino Educational Foundation, the grandparents were collected by their eager grandchildren and shown around the school and classrooms. It was wonderful to see the natural tenderness displayed in the interactions between grandparent and grandchild. This relationship has a natural quality based on Love, Trust and Respect. Love underpins any proper relationship; Trust is in the experience and quietude with which grandparents conduct themselves and Respect is for the learning and wisdom they have to impart.

Towards the end of the morning the grandparents were treated to a concert of music, dance and speech, which was simply delightful.

Ficino School Vision, Values & Motto Card

Each family will today receive our newly published Vision, Values and Motto card. This has gone home with the eldest or only child in the family. We hope this will be a helpful tool to keep these values at the fore-front of the children’s and our own minds.  Please feel free to use them to help explain something of the school’s ethos to friends and family.
