Message from the Principal – 30 May 2014

This week was the beginning of two new initiatives. The first was a visit for students from all the junior classes to the newly built Eden Village. They sang songs, recited poems and played their instruments to a select group of elderly folk and staff. This forms the beginning of what will hopefully be an ongoing opportunity for our students to serve the local community. We have also made an invitation to the residents to see some of our performances, and provide an audience for dress rehearsals. The second new venture is the Ficino School Running Club which had its first outing this morning. Despite the rain, seventeen students and five parents turned up to join Mrs Leathley and Mrs Watkins, on an exploration of the slopes of Mount Eden in the early hours of the morning. One parent reported to me that her children were so keen, they got themselves out of bed, organised their own breakfast and had everything waiting by the door ready to depart, and this was all by 6.15am! Breakfast is provided for the runners and anyone is welcome any Friday, just turn up ready to run just before 7am.

Have an enjoyable Queen’s Birthday holiday!
